Our History

Manufactured and modular homes are precision-engineered in indoor facilities with the same quality construction materials used for stick-built housing. They can be built with quick, affordable, eco-friendly construction compared to other home types, and have virtually no risk to weather events or other issues with the initial construction process. Our Sales Centers are premier manufactured and modular home retailers. We offer floor plans from a wide variety of manufacturers. With our manufacturer partnerships, UMH has curated a large selection of fabricated home models for homebuyers to choose from.

Qualified buyers receive turnkey services from UMH Sales Centers, including home design, shipment handling, financing assistance, installation assistance and placement assistance. We’re constantly keeping up with the latest innovations in the manufactured housing industry, and our specially trained staff helps hundreds of families each year design their perfect UMH home offering the latest in technology, amenities and design.

We’re committed to providing more than just a home. We’re committed to our communities. UMH owns and operates 132 manufactured home communities with approximately 25,000 developed homesites. These communities are located in New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Alabama and South Carolina. UMH also owns and operates one community in Florida, containing 219 sites, through its joint venture with Nuveen Real Estate.​ For four years running since 2016, a UMH community has been selected as the recipient of the Manufactured Housing Institute’s Land-Lease Community of the Year Award. We’ve earned this industry honor through dedicated involvement in the communities we operate, by continually making the capital improvements needed to maintain five star rated communities.

UMH also participates in many charities, organizations and events local to our communities, including chambers of commerce, community appreciation days, local Veteran’s appreciation events, fire department luncheons, school luncheons and resident barbecues.
